Earth Month

Earth Month

The month of April is the annual event which takes place, dedicated to raising environmental awareness and promoting protecting the planet. The main focus of the month is earth day on the 22nd of April.

Earth Month began in 1970 where climate change was discussed and to think of ways to protect the environment after the book "Silent Spring" was written in 1962 to raise awareness on the effects of air pollution on living organisms and the oil spill in California in 1969 causing senator Gaylor Nelson to form an organisation to safeguard the environment. In 1990 Earth Mont became global, reaching 141 countries and 200 million participants, all wanting to help raise awareness and help find ways to help the environment.

Many people use this month to reflect on how they can help the planet and what they can do for the environment. It's important to raise awareness , encourage sustainable living and advocate for solutions for the environmental issues.

Earth month is important because it causes immediate action, allowing more discussions to reach wider audiences. During this month more funds can also be raised to help provide financial support to implement effective solutions.

It's vital that we remember that the Earth is our home, we should protect it for not just ourselves but for future generations to come so they can live on the same beautiful and incredible earth that we are lucky to be on.
