Wood Coastal Candle was inspired by a hot day during the heatwave of 2018, when Laura was playing beach badminton with her daughters on Gullane beach. It dawned on her that she should create a coastal candle range. A collection that reflected the scents that she could smell on the coast of East Lothian where she lives.

The beach is an integral part of Laura’s life and she vows to not live by the sea, ever again, having grown up inland. Her girls have also grown up, barefoot and carefree on beaches in New Zealand and Gullane, Scotland. Beach fires for roasting marshmallows and cooking sausage sizzles have made lasting childhood memories. Simple and slow living – a lifestyle Laura knows and loves so well.

Laura’s inspiration behind the scent of her wood coastal candle was of the lush abundance of wood and smoke. The scent of a campfire that taps into our primal instincts.

All Laura’s candle ranges are made in house in the LT workshop in North Berwick. Loving handmade and hand-poured wood coastal candle will transport you to a roaring campfire on a deserted beach. Wood has hints of sandalwood, cedarwood, cinnamon, and bergamot. It is woody and smokey, yet delicate and gentle with scents of bergamot and cinnamon.

This candle is neither too masculine nor feminine. It has carefully crafted to represent the wood and smoke of a fire but also the warmth and comfort that an open fire offers.

Camp Fires on beaches in Scotland is not illegal however there is responsible access code to adhere to:

If you do wish to light an open fire, keep it small, under control, and supervised – fires that get out of control can cause major damage, for which you might be liable.

Never light an open fire during prolonged dry periods or in areas such as forests, woods, farmland or on peaty ground or near to buildings or in cultural heritage sites where damage can be easily caused.

Remove all traces of an open fire before you leave.

While on the beach make sure you pour cold water over the fire to cool the embers and be sure to cover it completely in sand.




How do I request an exchange or return?

Generous APE is a multi-brand marketplace which means products are sent directly from the different brands, some in different countries. Returns need to be sent direct back to the brands, not Generous APE. Therefore, if you have ordered products from different brands and you wish to return them, they will need to be sent back to each brand.  

Generous APE does not cover the cost of return postage unless your item is faulty.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer exchanges directly, however some do brands do offer this option. Please contact us if you wish to exchange an item and we can let you know if the brand accepts exchanges.

Please note: Sale items can not be returned or exchanged unless faulty.

Once your return is accepted, our Customer Service team will email you the brand address(es) to send your order back to.

Please use tracked delivery to return your item(s) as this will be your proof of postage and help you to receive your refund quicker.

We will endeavour to respond to you within 2-3 hours of your email, during working hours, which are 9am to 5pm UK time, Monday to Friday.


How long do I have to return my order?

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.


What can be returned?

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. 

Please note: Any Sale items, Custom Made or Made to Order items cannot be returned unless faulty. The brand will investigate faults before a refund will be issued.


What if an item is faulty?

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue.

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not.

If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method.

Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
