Generous APE partners with World Land Trust

Hugo Empson

We founded Generous APE on the foundation of altruism, with the mission of creating a style led sustainable marketplace which could act as a catalyst for positive change.  We also give back to great causes and charities taking action today for a better tomorrow.  Every purchase you make through Generous APE has a purpose, whether that is through our contribution to charity or through supporting our partnered brands,  all which share our same responsibility to the planet.

“The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.”

Sir David Attenborough

APE stands for Animals, People and the Environment and we wanted to partner with a charity which covers all three bases - The World Land Trust carries the ideal chemistry and caliber of action that made us immediately their biggest fan. They do so much more than just acquiring and protecting these fragile habitats. The Trust partners with local individuals, communities and organizations to engage support and commitment among the people who live in project areas. Creating jobs through protecting and preserving these habitats, funding wildlife reserve management rangers’ salaries. Empowering local people and collaborating their work with local expertise and knowledge. We are so excited and proud to announce the World Land Trust as our partnered Charity for 2021.

Through a network of partnered organizations around the globe, World Land Trust funds the creation of reserves which provides permanent protection for habitats and wildlife.  The land they acquire are some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, housing endangered species and delicate environments which they not only protect and help sustain but also strategically acquire land to connect migration routes creating corridors between reserves for these animals to thrive and flourish.

The World Land Trust, at the time of writing, has funded 2,222,247 acres of threatened habitat in 20 countries and the planting of 2,292,361 trees.

All of our contributions go towards the Buy an Acre scheme, in which we donate a £1 for every order made through Generous APE.  There is also a function at checkout to match pound for pound.  For every £100 raised, a World Land Trusts overseas partner will be able to purchase one acre of habitat and protect it in perpetuity for wildlife.

We had a chat with Dan Bradbury, the Director of communications and development at WLT earlier this  week.

Give it a watch and let us know what you think.
